This Weekend

A couple of months ago, Drew's dad started getting ill. At this point he still has no confirmed diagnosis, and although we are hopeful that whatever it is can be cured, we also know there is no time like the present for a visit. So we happily scrapped the trip we had planned for the beach and headed to St Mary's County, Maryland instead to spend some quality time with him. With the exception of Grandpa's constant pain and my backing the car into a hidden electrical box (whoops), the trip was perfect.

We started Saturday with the Calvert County Pet Day 5K. Drew won his age category (30-39) with a time of 19:20. I ran my best time in 25:37. The weather was beautiful and it was great to have Grandma, Grandpa and the kids there cheering us on.

We followed up the race with my favorite meal, Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. I ate until I was going to be sick and then baked brownies for dessert (Mom and Laura, you know we can't have crabs without brownies!)

The rest of the weekend was spent doing things that Molly and Brody wanted to do: riding on Grandpa's John Deere tractor, feeding the fish in the pond, making crafts, finding seashells on the beach, and catching fish off the pier. We could not have ordered more perfect weather and it was fantastic just to be able to hang out as a family doing the things we love with Grandma and Grandpa. (I spent the better part of Sunday afternoon reading back issues of Grandma's Star magazine... heaven!)

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a great visit. Here are some pictures of our wonderful time... enjoy!
